Certificate
We are the only entity in the country that teaches and certifies Legislative Advocates.
Throughout the nation, you will find that there is no specific educational related requirements to become a legislative advocate. What requirements you will find, usually revolve around taking some sort of state sponsored seminar, one that usually lasts a couple of hours and includes no course work. Often these are required by the state and touch on a variety of lobbying aspects. the course I am most familiar with is the one that i am required to take to be a registered California lobbyist .
Personally speaking, what makes this sad is this: there are no certificate programs at any Ivy league institution or law school around the country - or world for that matter.
As such, we have taken the liberty to create a Lobbyist certification program. It is our belief that as the Lobbyist Education Center grows, not only will we start working with major institutions to teach legislative advocacy, but more importantly, we know that by the time you have taken taken the required number of courses you will be qualified to be a Legislative Advocate AND will thus meet California State Requirements. In our opinion, that means that you will be able to set yourself up in business, create a Political Action Committee, Understand the basics of Not-for-profit operations and understand both registration and reporting requirements. You will also understand how to contact potential employers, pick issues and testify before legislative bodies.
And how do we accomplish this? Simple: put, as you peruse the course tittles, you will notice that the term “credit” is used. That is in reference to this: Each course, like college, is worth credits. By the time you earn 17 credits, you earn your certificate. Its that simple!
If you are interested in becoming certificated, and thus take all the classes, you will receive a 10% discount on all seminars. You will also receive a copy of the Dummy’s Guide To Legislative Advocacy, as well as personal help with the exercises.
